Access reports

I've been using Access for years, and I really like it, and use it
extensively. My problem recently is that, even though the design of a certain
report is for a field to be ascending, it does not seem to be. I've used this
report daily for the last several years, and added the field recently,
replacing another field that I no longer use. It's a report of all pending
actions, and I want them to appear by due date, ascending, which is the first
field in my design, then by the number in this newly placed field,
ascending, and then I added where "date completed", another field, is null.
Sorry to ramble on---what could be the problem? I already checked to make
sure there aren't any hidden spaces within the entries in the field. I hope
this makes sense.

Perhaps the new field is not included in the Grouping/Sorting list?

Hi,

Open the report in design view and click the Sorting and Grouping
icon.

Thank you SO much for telling me to go to this "page"---as I said, I've used
Access for what seems like forever, and never even knew this page existed.
I'll make sure to print your reply, for future reference. I added the field
to the sorting and grouping list, in the proper order, and the report looks
fine.

Thanks again. I knew I could count on this group to answer my question, and
fast. I use the group for Word questions all the time when I or someone in my
office is stumped. Your knowledge is invaluable.

Assuming you don't find anything wrong with the grouping and sorting
area, then I have ask have you made sure that you are sorting on a number
field and not a text field with numbers. They will not sort the same way.
A common error.

Thanks for the followup information---it's good to know. I'll print out your
reply as well, for future reference. The report is printing out fine now, but
you're right, the field is a text field that contains both text and numbers,
so that could pose a problem in the future.
