Access queries hang?

I have a new "high spec ish" PC. My 2003 access queries no longer run. System
hangs
 
How many records are we talking about? Can you still open the table? Is any
error generated? Is it a Select query?

Can you create a new database with a new table with a few records and create
a new query based on that table and then try to run that query?
