Hello,

I am new pretty new to Access, I started building my own databse using the
templates and also downloaded a few from the microsoft site (education
templates). When I tried opening those - a logon screen appeared (with name
and password).

My name automatically appeared in the name field but I have no idea what the
password is -- I went back to where I downloaded and did not see a password
poasted, so just gave up on them.

However, now whe I try to reopen Access I keep getting the same pop up
window. I have never set any passwords and now I cannot get into Access at
all!

Please advise.

Thanks in advance!

It sounds like something changed or replace your security file (system.mdw)
Do a computer-wide search for files with an .mdw extension. If you find more
than one, you'll need to rejoin the correct workgroup. You can do that with
the workgoup administrator normally located:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\WRKGADM.EXE

And browse to the correct one:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\system.mdw

If you don't find more than one, I sugget you first uninstall, then
re-install Access, making sure that the system.mdw file is deleted during
the uninstall, and that you've rebooted. That typically takes less than a
half hour and is easier than trying to crack passwords or further diagnose
the problem.
