Access Merging to Word

I am using an Access query that includes calculated fields to merge into
Word. When Word tries to pull the query in, it drops the data. Any
experience or help with this?
 
Yes, My workaround is to change the query to a MakeTable query, make the
table, and link that to the Word Mail Merge Document.
