I have a standard text field -- no special properties, just what you get
by default when you make a text field. It is not a key field. I type
in "NStar" and it gets changed to "Nstar". Can i prevent this
annoyance?

From the Access menu, select Tools|AutoCorrect Options. You may have the
option "Correct TWo Initial CApitals" checked.

Select Tools... Options; on the Spelling tab click the AutoCorrect
Options button and set it as you wish (uncheck the Two Initial
CApitals in this case).
