I was recently instructed to connect to Symantec's FTP site using the cmd
command in Windows XP Pro. I ran into a problem when I was prompted for a
password. When I attempted to enter the password given by Symantec it would
not respond. The cursor at the password prompt would just blink regardless
of what I typed. It was if the letters and numbers function on the keyboard
were turned off. The enter key did still function. I even went to a
different network and it did the same.

Please help.

Ray,
This is normal for ftp on the command (cmd) line. It
is done so someone standing behind you can't see the
password just like the "*****" you see when you type your
windows passwords. You should just type in the password
as given and hit enter. Hope this helps,
Dan

There's nothing wrong, that's how FTP works. Whereas Windows echoes your
password using either '*' or blobs, FTP doesn't echo your password at all.
Just carefully type your password, and hit the enter key.
