Access/Excel multiple user

I have Access2000, table is linked to an Excel file.
Multiple persons can open the Access app, however, if more
than one person uses a function which uses the linked
file, it gives a message ~can not open, file already
opened exclusively by someone else~

How do I set this up to allow multiple users to access
this file?

Have you tried going to Tools and Share Workbook in your
Excel file?
 
maybe you should try specifying a read-only or a shared lock on the table in
the connection string-- can't you do something liek that?

Excel sux; build something in Access that can meet all your needs.
