Access Developer Edition Question

Hi All,

I'm developing an application for a store, and I'm currently just using
Office Pro, which would require the store to have Office on each computer.
The only application they would be using from Office will be the one I'm
developing, and it's not cost-effective for them (very small struggling mom
& pop restaurants) to buy Office Pro for each of their PCs.

However, they could buy me the developer edition if it would allow them to
have a "stand-alone" app developed with access. Is this possible? If I
have the dev. ed., can I create a stand-alone Access app that can be
installed on numerous PCs?

Thank you,
Anthony

You can't really create a "stand-alone Access app", but you've got the right
general idea.

The Developer Edition allows you to package your application along with a
royalty-free runtime version of Access. Users who don't already have Access
can install the runtime, and use your application. However, it doesn't
change your application in any way, shape or form.

With the developer version of Office XP or 2000, you can use the package &
deployment wizard which includes the royalty free access run-time
components, allowing you to distribute your program to people who do not
have office installed on their PC

Stuart & Douglas,

I think that is what I need. Does the Access 97 Developer tools CD have the
same deployable runtime version (well, the 97 version, but a runtime
executable) and the installer? I bought the 97 pro edition and separate
dev. tools CD many moons ago, but only have the "pro" version for 2000
(which is currently installed). If this is the case, it would be worth it
to just do the app in 97, since the company doesn't need any "extended"
functionality.

Thanks again,
Anthony

How many computers are involved?
It might be cheaper to buy copies of Access than the developers edition.
