I have winxp home edition sp2
I am cleaning up a folder in "documents and settings"
so when I access user accounts and trying to delete the user account but
keep files
it comes back with a error. So I attempt to delete the folder myself and get
access denied error message.

No matter what I do I cannot delete this folder.

So I try looking ms support and the help is for XP pro only.

any suggestions.

Some files cannot be deleted through regular means. If you want to keep the
files but remove the profile, copy the files you want out and then delete
the entire user profile. I only know how to do this in XP pro and IIRC the
procedure to delete a profile is different in XP home. So hopefully you know
how to do it, or someone else can fill you in.

Try logging in in safemode as the system administrator. Then attempt
to delete the user data. Some programs, while active, will block you
from deleting what they see as protected files. But in safe mode and
as the administrator you should have 100% control.
