I am not able to access files created on my computer. This is applying to jpg files that once moved from one file to another, then become non-access able. The error in XP reads:

Cannot "COPY" "file name" :access denied
Make sure the disk is not full or write-protected and that the file is not currently in use

I also get this error if I try and MOVE or DELETE the files.

I tried to turn off the thumbnail cashe. I also started in safe mode and tried to reassign the permissions. It does seem that the problem lies with permissions. If I click on properties of the new folder where the corrupted files are located the attributes box "READ-ONLY" is a solid square, not checked and not uncheck, but solid. But even the safe mode reassigning of properties didn' help.

I also ran a demo version of BADCOPY PRO on the files and it said they were not recoverable

Thanks

HOW TO: Take Ownership of a File or Folder in Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;308421

For this you need to boot in safe mode in XP Home and in XP Pro
disable simple file sharing in Windows Explorer > Folder Options >
View tab.

Good luck
