Access Denied - WinXP Pro to Win98SE

David H.

Hello,

I have a small network 2 * Win98SE and a new WinXP Pro PC.

I'm able to connect to all my Win98SE shares from the XP Pro PC.

When I connect to the shares on the XP Pro PC from Win98SE
I can connect to it, But I'm unable to go into the sub-directories.

I get a
"access denied, contact system administrator type message."

Any pointers appreciated.

Try creating a login name on the 98 Box the same as the
login of the XP Box, See if that helps

Hello Me,

Thanks for the reply.

I already have a login name for use the 98 box.
Where can I had another login Name?

I would have thought the problem was on the XP PC?
That's where I get the access denied, when I try to
access shares on XP from the 98 PC,
I get the error when I try to access 1 level down from
the share root.

ex:
I share the c:\ on XP Pro with say a name of CROOT
I can get to the CROOT share O.K from 98,
But when I click on anything in CROOT, "access denied"

Regards - David
