Access denied when .ldb is present (only for XP-SP2)

Prior to host pc and some user pc's being upgraded to XP SP2, multi users
could sign in to Access 2003 DB simultaneously. Since upgrades, if .ldb is
present (someone else already in), XP SP2 users cannot access. Non-XP users
can still access. When current user exits, XP users can then get in.

Any ideas on how to turn this security off ?? I want to get back to
multiple users. Or can anyone point to where this is documented? I know hte
..ldb is showing its "locked", but its not for non-XP users.

Since files are locked when they come from unsecure source,
is it possible that something about your network makes other
users look like they are insecure?

1) Do xp users have this problem when the only other
users are ALSO xp users?

2) using xp pro or home?

3) multiple domains?

4) mapped drives or unc paths?

5) . (dot) in the network path or file name?

I don't think its our network, as i can access it when no one else is, and
non XP users can access it whether anyone else is or not.

1) I don't know the answer to that question, will have to find it out - i
know that if a user is an XP user is signed in and another XP user tries, it
doesn't allow access, but i haven't knowingly tested it when i KNEW the other
user wasn't XP. But I have had non-XP users sign in after i (XP) was signed
in.

2) XP Pro (both host and remote user)

3) same domain (all users)

4) not mapped drives - i connect to host pc, sign in and then open database

5) only (.) is in [filename].mdb

We aren't seeing this, but I'd take a guess that all of our users
with Win XP are either (a) SQL Server, or (b) Administrators
on their own PC's (not that that should make a difference
to file server rights).

On my own PC (XP Pro, SP2), I never see locked files -
even though I download mdb's from the internet and
receive them in mail.
