Access denied to Documents and Settings, but I am an administrator

I have hidden files and show System files ticked / unticked in folder
options. I can see all files. When I go into c:\documents and settings I get
access denied. This is a shortcut /junction. I am in the administrator group.
Does anyone else have this problem? Thanks. Mick

There's nothing to see. It's not a directory. You know it's a junction.
Leave it alone. It's not a problem.

This is correct operation. Access to junctions is strictly restricted.

Thanks for the quick answer. I still think it is strange to have a juction
that I can not use as a shortcut. Thanks again for your wisdom.

I think MS could have alleviated a lot of confusion regarding Junctions,
Symbolic Links, etc, by giving those types a different icon. As it stands,
they appear in Windows Explorer as hidden shortcuts to folders, using the
same icon as shortcut (.lnk) files that point to folders. However,
right-clicking on a Junction, for instance, and looking at Properties,
reveals that it is not an .lnk file, but called a File or File Folder,
depending on the Properties of the folder the Junction is pointing to.

I how understand why I cannot access these junctions. When I bought a new PC
with Vista, I had to transfer my XP Outlook Express Inbox, and Sent
directories, but only the Inbox transferred. I was going to copy the Sent
directory into Windows Mail, but I cannot drill down into the Application
Data directory due to this 'access denied' junction issue. Comments?

Try here:

C:\Users\YOURNAME\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Mail\Local Folders

You will need to make sure that in folder options you have 'show hidden
files and folders' checked.
