I had to restore my access database from a backup. I now get the message that
the db is opened exclusively by another user or I, as systems admin, do not
have rights to the database. How can I unlock these two db files. I really
need the two lists for newsletters I publish.

First check the properties of the files. Makes sure read only is not
checked.

Next look for the file YOURFILENAME.LDB in the same director as the
YOURFILENAME.MDB. If found delete it.

If that doesn't work (win won't let you del the ldb), go into the management
console (right click my comp and go manage then choose shared files and
folders in the tree) of your computer and see if the .mdb and .ldb files are
open. You can close them from there if they are erroneously open.
You can then del the ldb.
