Access denied - pst message

I recently purchased a new pc to replace my old unit due to a main board
failure. I installed my old drive as a secondary (E:\) drive in the new box.

When attempting to import .pst files from E:\ into my new installation of
Outlook 2003 on the new machine I get "Access Denied - You do not have
permissions to access this file" or words to that effect.

I'm logged in as an administrator, but still access is denied. What must I
do?

Thanks in advance
Nick

Do not import. Either use the file from the E: drive, move the file to the
location you want to use it from or use the pst file that Outlook created
with the new installation and just open the file on E: and drag information
from it.

Hello Nick,

You asked how to fix the "access denied" problem you encounter when trying
to read files from the hard disk of your previous PC.

If the file system is NTFS, even administrative accounts on your new
Windows installation might not have access. To remedy the issue, take
ownership of the files (using e.g. Explorer):
