Access Denied on Restored Directories & Files

G

Guest

Recently I restored some files from a backup. Most of the files were restored
perfectly, however there are some of them which are giving me a hard time.
Whenever I attempt to enter the directory for these files I receive the
message

"My Documents\xxx\ is not accesible
Access is denied".

I cannot do any operation on the files: I can't read, modify nor delete.
Could anybody help me with it?

Kind regards,
JC

As long as the files weren't encrypted, you might want to try
taking ownership of the files and give yourself full control
permissions. Take a look at these articles for more info:

Note: If you are running Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition, you
must start the computer in safe mode, and then log on with an
account that has Administrative rights to have access to the
Security tab. To start in Safe Mode, reboot your computer and
start tapping the F8 key as soon as you see anything displayed
on the screen. Keep hitting F8 until the Advanced Startup
Options menu appears. Use the up and down arrow keys on your
keyboard to select Safe Mode. Hit Enter.

Good luck

You need to take ownership of the miscreant files.
Go to Folder Options
Click View
Go down to the box labeled Simple File Sharing. Remove the check.

Now go to the folder which contains the files.
Access the Security Tab, and enable whatever is missing from your
permissions.

When done. go back to Folder Options and enable Simple File Sharing.
