Access database not working on NTFS

Ravi Verma

Hi,

I have an access database and that is working fine in my other computer
which has office 2000 and FAT32 file system. but when I tried to use that
database on other computer which has office 2000 and NTFS file system, the
database is not working properly.

I have tried everything, virus scan, office 2000 reinstallation but nothing
is working. I now doubt that office 2000 doesn't support NTFS, is it correct
or this is because of some other problem?

Kindly, help
regards,
Ravi

I'm running many Access databases (2000, 2002, 2003, 97, even 2.0)
successfully on a NTFS disk. What specific problems are you having? Do you get
error messages, or what symptoms are you seeing?

Thanks for your reply, actually my database is for motorcycles warranty
claim. when i enter the serial number all other datas are automatically
displayed in other fields and also the current date. but it's not happening
that way in that computer moreover in date field is is showing something
like #name?

I repeat, it is working properly in other computer.

You have a broken reference. The procedure below needs to be performed on the
PC with the error.

(quoting below from a John Spencer post)
Here are Doug Steele's instructions for how to do it:

****Quote****
Open any code module (or open the Immediate Window, using Ctrl-G, provided
you haven't selected the "keep debug window on top" option). Select Tools |
References from the menu bar. Examine all of the selected references.

If any of the selected references have "MISSING:" in front of them, unselect
them, and back out of the dialog. If you really need the reference(s) you
just unselected (you can tell by doing a Compile All Modules), go back in
and reselect them.

If none have "MISSING:", select an additional reference at random, back out
of the dialog, then go back in and unselect the reference you just added. If
that doesn't solve the problem, try to unselect as many of the selected
references as you can (Access may not let you unselect them all), back out
of the dialog, then go back in and reselect the references you just
unselected. (NOTE: write down what the references are before you delete
them, because they'll be in a different order when you go back in).

Just so you know: the problem will occur even if the library that contains
the specific function that's failing doesn't have a problem.
