I appear to have a corrupted db. Access 2003 works ok with other dbs. As soon
as I try to open the suspect db Access crashes.

How do I get over this please? I am not using VBA just the macro builder
tool.
While on the subject, anybody know of good free shopping trolley that I can
use with Access db?

Best Regards
Bob

BB,
The first thing to try is holding the Shift key while you start the
application. This will prevent any start up code from running, and may
allow you to open the database just to the Access Database window.
From there, you could try a Compact and Repair.

Thanks Al

Pressing the Shift key when opening the db allowed me to stop a form that I
had specified to run at start up. The form has the problem and i can now get
to it to sort it.

Thank you very much for a painless recovery.

Best regards
Bob

I had a problem that may be similar.
If you have a macro that opens a form in the 'on close' event, then if the
object with that event is open when you close the database, compact and
repair, or backup, then when it re-opens access becomes frozen. If you close
and open again it will work.

If this is the case i suggest that you dont put a macro in the on close
event on the object.

If u have solved your problem I hope this will help other users with a
similar problem.
