Database suddnly is showing as read-only ,yet under
properties,this box is not selected?
 
More details please. What is the exact message you get when you attempt to
open it?

Is the entire database R/O, or just some particular Form or Query?

I recently had the same thing happen to me in Access 2000 -
all of a sudden the database was read only. After
working at it for a while, I gave up, created a new
database, imported all of the objects from the original
database (which worked), grumbled under my breath and went
on my way. I hope we get an answer.
