Access 97 - Subform Data Not Being Retrieved

I have a quotation form set up which is similar to the Orders Sample Database
that comes with Access 97. Specifically, I have a subform set up to enter in
multiple products and costs. I've set up a text box in the form footer to
calculate the sum of the products, just like the Sample. In the Main form,
the subform is inserted and configured the same as the sample and so is the
text box which should display the subtotal for the order. Everything is as it
should be according to the Sample Database AND the instructions in the help
file. But when I run the form, the Subtotal textbox displays "#Name" in the
field. Why it does this is beyond me and I can see nothing that might cause
this problem. If you know what the problem is, please help me.

"#Name" usually means that Access can't recognize a fieldname that is
referenced in the control's ControlSource property. double-check the
fieldname(s) in the property, and also make sure that the name of the
control is *not* referenced in its' ControlSource property.

No, thats not the problem. Like I said before, basically everything is set
up like the Sample Database and it doesn't work. Even when I go to select the
field from my subform through the expression builder, it still doesnt work.
