Access 97 DAO version

Angel Mazo

I have a site with 14 PC's, half with Windows XP Professional and half
with Windows 98; all of them have MS Office 97 Professional and all of
them have SR-2 and JetSp3 installed.

Making a Office 97 Service Release revision I found out a PC (with
Windows XP Professional) that had an incorrect DAO350.DLL version; it
has 3.50.3428.0 instead of 3.51.1027.0 as it should have.

I do not understand how having SR-2 it does not have the right DAO
version.

My question is:

.. Can I "simply" replace the bad by the right one?
.. Should un-install Office 97 and re-install again completely?

I appreciate your wise advice.

Angel.

It's certainly faster to try the replacement, but only if you're sure that
SR-2 is installed. Without SR-2, a reinstall would be better. If you choose
to re-install it is wise to first uninstall, then use regcln.exe or
eraser.exe to clean the registry. If you choose to replace the dll, register
it with:

Start ... Run ...

regsvr32.exe "C:\FullPathTo\DAO350.DLL"

Couldn't you just run "sr2aof97.exe" again to get it to (re)install the
later DAO version?

Arvin, Ian,

Thanks for your quick answers.

As I am not the person in charge for installing" de Office stuffs but
a third party house wich provides support to Customer, I would prefer
to firstly ensure if SR-2 install has left any other thing not
properly applied before to tell them that they have to uninstall and
re-install.

I have been trying to get from MS Knowledge Base an article where I
can know the file names plus version of each, involved on SR-2, but no
success up to know. I was thinking to verify each file version in
order to know if only the DAO350.DLL was the wrong one.

Should anyone know the KB number(s), I would thank.

Regards.

Angel.

In sync with User and third party house, we decided to re-install the
SR-2 and now DAO350.DLL already has the right version.

Thank you very much for your answers.
