Access 2007 DB gone after "Compact on Close"

I've lost hours of work multiple times, where seems to be a problem with
Compact. I get an error saying it will save it as another name, but it does
not. File is not saved elsewhere (nothing matches time/date, accdb,
db1.accdb, etc). It's just gone..and that is just not good.

Please follow up your other post on this if you have any more details of the
conditions under which this occurs.
