i am currently using access 97 and linking tables from sql server 6.5; i am
in a multi-user environment and when i try to update a linked table, i often
get a record locking error; if i upgrade to access 2003 (or any newer
version), can i resolve this issue?

Record locking exist to keep one user from stepping on the toes of
another when they are both trying to edit data on the same Access page (A
page may have one or more records).

There is more than one record locking scheme and you may want to read
the Access help files to determine if changing to a different scheme may
help.

Sometimes you may be able to batch changes so there will be fewer toes
stepped on.
