Access 2003 run time permissions issue
Hi,

I have got an access DB which I modified in Access 2003 (Office
professional edition). I would like to deploy the interface (.mde)
file. The database (which contains tables) has been left untouched.

Some of the users (using access 2003 runtime ) are having issues
opening the .mde file. The error message:
"You do not have the necessary permissions to use the 'C:\...mde'
object. Have your system administrator or the person who created this
object establish the appropriate permissions for you."

Before I modified the .mde file all users were able to connect to mdb
file (database) without any issues. Seems like the work I have done on
the new .mde file is not allowing some of the users to open this .mde
file.

Problem is that I cannot access the security option with runtime. I
cannot run "wrkgadm.exe" either. So I think I am stuck in the middle
here.

I would love to hear your suggestions.
Cheers.

Problem is that I cannot access the security option with runtime.

Create a shortcut like this (all one line):

"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE10\MSACCESS.EXE" C:\Database.mde
/wrkgrp C:\Secure\Secure.MDW
Problem is that I cannot access the security option with runtime. I
cannot run "wrkgadm.exe" either.

Doesn't that get installed with the runtime? If it's installed but the user
can't run it, the user probably doesn't have enough permissions on that
folder.

It sounds to me the problem is in file permissions rather than Access
Security permissions.

If the user uses WXP OS, use the "Effective Permissions" tab in Windows
Explorer Permission to check that the user has Read / Write permissions on
the file as well as Create / Delete (files) permissions on the directory the
MDE file resides.
