Access 2002 file open dialogue runs slow

Access 2002, when selecting compact and repair or selecting another access
file to open using the file open dialogue, the system runs like a dog...any
pointers. It takes ages to refresh the dialogue box.

Close other copies of Access. Get rid of mapped drives.

Thanks David,

Don't consider myself to be an Access Newbie by any manner of means, but
would NOT have readily jumped upon mapped drives being disconnected thereby
causing the file open dialogue to go into a near continuous loop, must have
been wearing my 'stupid' head today!

Dunno why it is such a problem with Access --
and not equally in all versions of Access --
but I've certainly done plenty of waiting.
In some versions of Access that file dialog
just has a problem with mapped drives, even
connected ones.
