Access 2002 Does Not Function

I have Access 2002 (10.6501.6714) SP3 running on a Dell Dimension 8250 using
Windows XP Pro.

I've never used Access 2002 and I thought I would give it a try, but upon
opening up the program, and going to the "Help", I tried to open the "Sample
Northwind database" and received the following error message:
"Microsoft Access can't open the sample database. This feature is not
currently installed. Would you like to install it now?"
When I click "Yes", I see a VERY brief install window, but it's gone as fast
as it came.

Then I clicked on the "Detect & Repair" under the Help section. I checked
the "Restore My shortcuts while repairing" and clicked on "Start". I got the
following error:
Windows Installer error:
"The installation source for this product is not available. Verify that the
source exists that you can access it."

What does all this mean and why doesn't my Access program work?

How do I get Access 2002 to function properly?

Thank you,
Diane

I have all the disks from Dell already. Should I reinstall Microsoft Office
XP Professional? If so, then would I be able to get all the updates again?
Thanks,
Diane

When doing an install, it should ask you what you want to install and
you may be able to install just Northwind or you may be able to do just
Access.

You be able to have it look for and find the files, but this time have
the first disk in the drive when you try it and it may be able to find the
files it needs.

I tried to perform an install from the original Office XP Pro disks, but
unfortunately, I got an error message telling me that I do not have a windows
installer program. Please tell me how to fix this as it's causing all sorts
of problems with other programs also.

As an update, I installed the 3.1 Windows Installer. Unfortunately, it hasn't
corrected anything. I put the Office XP Pro CD into my drive, and nothing
happened. Upon clicking on the "setup.exe" I still receive an error message.
I don't understand what happened...what can I do now to fix this?
Please help!

I don't think a 3.1 Windows installer program is going to work with XP
Pro. You may want to check out a XP Pro newsgroup. I am guessing the
problem is with the operating system, not Access.

Additional note, are you logged onto Windows with full administrator
rights?
