Access 2000-Telephone dialer with commas do not work?

I created a dialer button in a form. I have a field in
which commas are used for pausing. The dialer refuses to
dial. It dials if there is no comma in the field.
Strangely, if I paste exactly the same field value with
commas to the speed dial part of the dialer program, it
dials fine. How can I dial from Access?
 
I just noticed that whenever I try to dial from Access, the
dialer tries to use Internet Call instead of Phone Call,
even if at the Dialer setting, Phone Call is set as a
preferred call. How can I correct this?
