I have been using an Access database for at least 3 yrs now and just
yesterday it decided that it will not open. When I click to open it in
Access it does nothing. I don't even get an error message. However, when I
merge data from the database to a Word template file that I have been using
just as long, the data shows up. What happened and how do I make it open
again in Access so that I can make updates or corrections?

We are on a network and running Windows XP Professional and Office 2000 from
my workstation.

Hello MFoster,

1) Back up the database, onto at least 1 other medium.

2) Repair the database, "from the outside in". Open access, go to Tools,
Database Utilities, Repair.

It'll bring you to a dialog box, then browse to the database in question,
badda bing, badda boom.

If this doesn't work, you'll need assistance from those more acclaimated.

Hope it works,

Dear Smackedass:

The repair did not work, but the analyze under tools did. I selected
analyze, then documenter, then selected the database file I wanted to use,
then reviewed the report that showed all my fields and how they were set up.
When I closed the documenter all my files showed up and were viewable.

Thank you.
