Access 2000 Crashes when creating a query using the wizard

I have a user who has a brand new installation of Windows
2000 Server and Office 2000. When they are trying to
create a query using the wizard, access crashes. This
happens even when you create a new database with no
tables in it or on a database with existing tables. We've
removed and re-installed office without any success. Word
and Excel are working fine. When it crashes it does not
give any error messages or write any events to the event
logs.

Two things required:

1. Download and apply the service packs for Office 2000 and also for Jet 4.
Both are available from http://support.microsoft.com

2. Turn off Name AutoCorrect check boxes under:
Tools | Options | General
Then compact the database to get rid of the corruption:
Tools | Database Utilities | Compact
