accents on french words

how to set up word so that the accents are done alone, not the the letter (exemple ` so that we can choose the letter - not è altogether)
 
You can insert a grave accent using its own key (the one at the top left on
U.S. keyboards). Other accents can also be inserted separately using Insert
| Symbol, a keyboard shortcut, or other method. See
