Absolute and Relative Hyperlinks in Office 2003

Hi!
I have a document saved in HTML-format (created in Word 97) with relative
hyperlinks. When I use the file in Office 2003 the links are absolute
instead. In Office 97 it was possible to choose if between absolute and
relative. So.. I wounder how I change between absolute and relative
hyperlinks.

Thanks in advance,
Mia

You can TRY deactivating the checkbox for updating links on save in
Tools/Options/General/Web options/Files

I'm glad I caught this tip. Word has been infuriating me by
creating absolute hyperlinks. But why the emphasis on TRY?

Because it probably won't help. Word is exceedingly stubborn about this, and
so far no one seems to have been able to come up with a way to make it stop
"knowing best." When I was creating Web pages with Word (shudder!) I found
that I could manage so the relative links were unchanged on saving (using
the setting Cindy mentions), so if I saved a file and uploaded it
immediately, it would be okay, but the next time I opened it, I was back to
square one. No change in any of the suggested settings regarding updating of
fields or links made any difference.

This was in Word 2002, however, so it's possible that improvements are
possible in Word 2003 (I got FrontPage 2003 at the same time as Office 2003
and migrated my Web sites to FP, so I have no experience with what Word 2003
will do in this regard).

Suzanne has pretty much hit the nail on the head. It works
reasonably reliably with keeping Word from playing havoc with
file paths in LINK, IncludePicture and IncludeText fields.
Hyperlinks are another animal, though, as not all the
information is stored accessibly in the field code.
