<quote>
AboutBuster is a tool that removes AboutBlank from an infected system. Currently, its
database supports the removal of CWS.HomeSearch, CWS.MfPlay, and CWS.SeDLL. Released in
July of 2004, it made its debut as the only tool of its time to fully remove the
HomeSearch virus. Since 2004, the virus creators have upgraded AboutBlank and split it
into 3 other variants, listed above.

Simply download AboutBuster from the link below. Unzip to a convenient location such as
C:\AboutBuster. Navigate to the folder you unzipped the files to and double click on the
file named AboutBuster.exe. Finally, select Begin Removal and the removal process will
commence.

Compatible with Windows 95, 98, ME, 2000, NT, XP, Vista

Randy I can't beleive this post you must have read my mind. Yesterday
checking Spybot- tools -browser pages i found two pieces of About:blank. Did
alot of reading and found that its a very problematic piece of junk, hard to
fully remove.
A year ago i was being Hi-jacked and one of my scans must have wounded it
(no more re-directs) but must still have pieces of it in my computer for it
to show up in Spybot.

Yesterday i entered About:blank in discussions and there were many posts
with your name on them, so i was going to post you today and ask more about
it.
Going to try your help later on today and will post back. Also what is this :
%Systemroot%\system32\blank.htm Thanks Ron

Should we take it from this posting here that this is a spyware that WD does
not catch or fix? If so, get on it MS.

Don't worry about that last item, I think--there's a blank page that's
designed for use with the browser if you want such a page--some folks
actually use it as their home page. I believe that's what that file is.

There actually is a legitimate blank home page that ships with IE, for those
people who want their browser to load as quickly as possible and who don't
want to read the latest about Anna Nicole Smith's baby having 50,000
fathers. :>

As Siggy Freud said: "Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar."

We had a Mardi Gras parade--our 9th annual, on Saturday. It's a tradition
of our little two-block long street in Philadelphia. One of the floats
asked that question--who's the daddy? The winner was Barbaro, but the
Easter bunny was a close second.

Hi Bill,

I suppose that -- depending upon who the real daddy is -- the kid will
either be able to run like the wind...or be a world-champion hopper. :>
