Hi All: using MSaccess xp and windows xp pro.
I write the database thats used in my company for only 2 people. when I
upgrade each year a couple things happen that I dont understand and want to
change if possible.
when I export a new report to the other computer:
1) I get the database is open or in use and It will not allow exporting
file to it. The database must be closed on the other computer before it will
take new report over network.
2) I set report to print with specific printer and tray but when it gets
exported to other computer (has same printer and connected to network) it
gets reverted back to default printer and default tray.
Any help please?

1) This is the way Access works. Since A2000 you cannot
make any design changes to a database without gaining an
exclusive lock to it.

2) Don't know. I've always set up reports with a fairly
loose generic margin page setting so that it will work on
most printers. Any special settings like tray etc I've
always done by hand on a machine by machine basis.

Thanks, I have things working but must do manually as you do. Ok if thats
the way it is.

don't have much experience with newer versions, but you used to be able to
lock reports to a specific printer
