I do fine going online to review my bank account. However, when I try to
upload a monthly statement, in pdf format, I get a blank screen titled
"about:blank-Microsoft Internet Explorer". Do I have a virus or worm; or is
there a fix? I have updated my Adobe Reader Ver. 7.0. to no avail.
Any hints?

It's possible. So do a virus scan. However, it is more likely you have had
your web browser hijacked. Download Adaware and Spybot and make sure when
you install them that you attempt to update both, first, then run them. If
there is anything to be found, they find most of it. A tip - run Adaware
first, let it finish and then run Spybot. Sometimes when one removes a
problem, the other sees that AS a problem if both are running at the same
time.

Hi
If Spybot will not help.

Jack,

Please be careful when recommending software downloads from MajorGeeks. MG
provides free software on pages with various additional links, which can lead
the unwary to download copies of software that is not free, and sometimes not as
reliable as the product which you may be recommending. You and I, with well
protected browsers, might not see the pitfalls which are presented to the
typical customer of this forum.

About:Buster is available from <http://downloads.subratam.org/AboutBuster.zip>
also. About:Buster is NOT a 100% effective tool, and should be used only under
the instruction of a spyware expert, in one of the expert forums.

Those who wish to download from MajorGeeks should be strictly advised to click
only on one of the mirror links found immediately under "Download Locations:",
and to avoid other links on the page. Specifically, avoid the advertisements
there.

I have Spyware and ran it, to no avail. Then I got AdAware and ran it-no
help. I will keep trying.

Thanks, everyone.

Gee, you warn him about telling people where to download from then you post
those links to areas supposedly filled with experts. Sorry but they are not
filled with experts so I would be wary about telling people what area to go
to.

You may as well tell them to download HiJackThis and fix it themselves. They
could end up in the shit if they don't know what they are doing and equally
end up in the same place listening to some of the so-called experts who live
at those places you recommend!

I never said to download "spyware". If you have gotten a tool called that, I
would be very suspect about using it if I were you.

If you use XP, you could also download the Microsoft anti spyware prog. It
isnt all that good but it offers you the ability to reset a few things at
the end of the scan that is safe enough to use if you just use defaults.

Failing that, you could download HiJackThis and run it then post the results
in here before actually changing anything and we could check it out for you.

Hi
Browser Hijackers are bread on it own. Some of them would not be touched by
main stream AntiSpy, Adware programs, and need a specific program to be
removed.

Most of the removal tools deal directly with Windows Registry and might ask
you to make decision about what to remove. I.e. you need to use utmost
caution.

May be this can Help: http://www.pchell.com/support/aboutblank.shtml

1. Is about:blank set as your Home Page? If yes - go to question 2
2. Did you set it to About:Blank? If yes - go to question 3 If no - more
than likely you have what I refer to as really bad spyware. Do a google
search on how to get rid of it.

3. If you are having problems only with downloading the bank statement,
perhaps SP2's pop-up blocker is the culprit. Hold down the Ctrl button when
you are attempting to look at the bank statement or disable the pop-up
blocker all together.

I actually had this happen to me and SP2 was the culprit.

Hope this helps.

Matt
