Abnormal program termination

I have installed wireless note book adapter Linksys WPC54g V2 on my laptop
with windows 2k OS. Every time i restart or reboot i get the error

"Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library Runtime Error! Program:.. C:\PROGRAM
FILES\linksys\wireless noteboook-G adapter\wpc54cfg.exe
abnormal program termination "
I have uninstalled and reinstalled the adapter as per the instuction manual
several times.. yet get the same error. have updated OS with the latest
updates...
the same device works perfectly well on a PC with windows XP OS.

Has anyone encountered a similar problem? Would appreciate a reply

Cross-post when necessary, but never multi-post. Cross-posting is when you
include two or more groups in the "Newsgroups:" section. In this scenario
the message and all responses are seen in all groups that the message was
cross-posted to. In other words any replies will automatically propagate to
the other newsgroup posts.

Multi-posting is when you post the same message to two or more groups
individually. In this scenario the message is seen in the groups it is
posted to, but the responses are only seen attached to the message (unless
you cross-post the reply) in which the response was made. So those that
frequent these groups then need to deal with or re-read the posts. It may
seem like a small thing to keep track of. But some of us actively traverse
50 or more groups. The poster also then must search out all of the posts to
see if there was a response.

Apologies for the confusion. This was my first visit to the newsgroup and
was not sure of where to post the message.

For what it's worth, I have found various Linksys manuals ambiguous in
certain places, and once even flat out misleading. However, I have found
the Linksys tech support people (in the Philippines) extremely patient
and, when pressed, clear and unambiguous. And the gear is very good and
reliable.

It would seem that there's some problem specific to the W2k
installation. You might do well to call tech support for a careful
step-by-step, including actual filenames. The manual may be assuming you
know something you don't. Or did something you didn't.
