Either the fan is dead or the fan header is dead. If applicable, I'd
suggest switching to a zalman northbridge heatsink. I've done just that
with my Gigabyte GA-7VA board with no issues (except less fan noise!) :)

I'm going to die rather sooner than I'd like. I tried to protect my
neighbours from crime, and became the victim of it. Complications in
hospital following this resulted in a serious illness. I now need a bone
marrow transplant. Many people around the world are waiting for a marrow
transplant, too. Please volunteer to be a marrow donor:

Another victim succumbs to the dreaded Abit nb fan issue. Go to the
Abit motherboard group, towards the bottom you will see a thread all
about Abit mb's and the nb fans, there are a few solutions there that
you can look into.

Had the same problem with an Epox motherboard. The chipset fan just seized.
You could try removing the paper label and putting a drop of machine oil in
there. There's a small hole just for that. Or just replace it.
