aarrgghh! Error: Outlook stopped working

I have read the many many comments that Outlook has stopped working... but I
have not seen any solution..

I just bought a new laptop.. I purchased new MS Office Business... I went
through the whole process of moving emails from old laptop with .pst file and
setting up my folders. I allowed MSOutlook to automatically configure my POP
email account (gmail). Everything worked fine for about a week and now..
Outlook errors out everytime I open it with the same message everyone else
receives.. "Outlook has stopped working and will close".

I am not a tech savy person... I need help - this laptop was for a service
position I hold and now I cannot access any of the emails that are stored on
the computer.

I thought, no problem at first.. just call the MS help desk, right? Wrong.
They sell me a piece of crap operating system and expensive software package
and then want to charge hundreds of dollars to fix it! I'm PO'd. I don't
understand why MS has not already resolved this problem with an update (which
I searched for) since this has been an ongoing problem (I saw blog enteries
as old as 2007!)

Has ANYONE found a solution (that a none tech person) can acutally try? I
can't even find the outlook.exe file stored on the computer with a search
(probably because Vista is soooo different from xp which I am used to.

Aarrgghh!

Not true. A retail version of Office comes with 90 days of free support from
Microsoft Product Support.

Because in most cases it is not an issue caused by Outlook but by a
misconfiguration by the user or by a 3rd party application that is installed
on the system. Either way, there is no "one-fix-cure-all" solution as the
root cause can be different every single time.

It took half the morning to try these fixes (since I don't know what i am
doing) (can't find stuff on vista - why did they have to change everything?)

but, alas, none of them worked to fix the problem.

What is being logged to the Event Viewer about your issue?
Start-> type; eventvwr

Check the Windows Logs-> Application log.
