A8N-SLI That darn Chipset fan - Mobo ideal temps?

OK, so I live in Australia. A replacement fan for the chipset HSF is not so
easy to come by.
I can buy a general 40mm fan, but it means a lot of effort to remove the
motherboard to remove the HSF and apply a new one.

So...I've unplugged the HSF. The assembly is still attached to the mobo.
What's an ok temp for the chipset fan to reach? At the moment it's
42C...after about 30mins of running.

I will get a new Fan, if necessary, but if the mobo can operate safely
without it then I'd rather not.

I have many fans, all of which are directed at the chipset fan as it is...

Have you contacted the place you bought the mobo from?
I bought mine from MCG Technology in WA and they replaced the chipset fan
for me - I rang them up, explained the problem, they asked me to bring the
mobo in to the shop. They swapped my fan for a new one (the slightly bigger
one that the boards now come with - sits on a different angle on the
board.). I wasn't even there ten mins. I presume they will RMA my faulty fan
to ASUS. Saved me the hassle of RMA processing time. The fan runs a lot
slower and quieter and I haven't had any probs thus far. It was a pain
having to dissassemble the pc to get the mobo out but worth it. And this way
my board warranty is still valid.

My mobo (with fan) runs anywhere from mid-30s to low 40s (celcius).

Yeah...I bought mine from MSY...they're renowned for extremely low prices
and service to go with those low prices...I will try, but I doubt they'll do
it.
But, ok, if you were able to get a replacement fan - that offers me hope!
Like I'd said, someone else had tried but been told that Asus wouldn't send
fans out here or whatever...thanks for the feedback.

I sent an email to asus and they sent a new fan to me once I did take the
old fan off though the chip had flaked and started to come apart (guess they
cant get too hot)I then emailed asus once more and they rma 'd the whole
Mother board and in two weeks I had a complete new board ,new bio's and all
so Im back running but seems to be some problems still I might have left out
something on the board once I rebuilt the pc am working on thet now
