A7N8X: NO SOUND"NO AUD HDWR AVAIL"

S

sdlomi

New build using A7N8X ver. 2.0 & running XP Pro. When I try to play
sounds-- cd, harddrive, or bootup, I get no sound. When trying songs on hd,
or cd's, get message on WinMedPlayer that "Cannot playback audio stream. No
audio hardware available or not responding."
All devices in device driver show working correctly.
Special circumstances caused me to 'cable' as follows: IDE1: h/d-1 as pri.
master & h/d2 as pri. slave. IDE2: cd-rw as sec. master & cd-rom as
sec.slave.
To set up from start, I used IDE1 with hd1 as pri. master and cdrom as
pri. slave--and nothing on IDE2. Then recabled to above configuration. (I
had lots of info on hd 2 whose mobo went bad on another system--hence the
motive to make it slave off hd1 in new system. It would not boot just
installing hd1, full of info, as pri. master in new system.)
HELP! All suggestions welcome. sdlomi
BTW: The XP2100, w/128mg generic 2100DDR, runs fine otherwise at 13X166,
XP2600 I guess.. Tried no other settings yet.

Go to nvidia.com and download the more up to date 2.45 unified driver
set and install those. If possible uninstall the set off the CD that you
already have installed, if this can't be done don't worry as most people
report no problems when installing the newer ones over the old ones.

These are the latest for 9x

ftp://ftp.asus.com.tw/pub/ASUS/misc/utils/nf2/nf2_v264_9x.zip
ftp://ftp.asus.com.tw/pub/ASUS/misc/utils/nf2/nf2_v264_me.zip

And these are for 2k/XP

ftp://ftp.asus.com.tw/pub/ASUS/misc/utils/nf2/nf2_v264_WDM2000.zip
ftp://ftp.asus.com.tw/pub/ASUS/misc/utils/nf2/nf2_v264_WDMxp.zip

See if these produce any difference. There are also a set marked 2.78 on
the float but they're badly out of date despite what the version number
suggests.
