Hi all, this is my configuration:

Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe
AMD XP2800+
PSU 400w
1 Case Fan
1 Coolermaster JET 7+ Fan
Club RAD9600 256MB
2 HDD
1 DVD-RW
1 FDD

When I power on the computer it works for several minutes and then it turn off.
I've not any OS installed because computer don't let me do it (it turns off), so
I can't install any diagnosis software.

The computer turns off but it like that was at hibernate mode because the power on led
is green, but I can't turn on it neither reset. I need to switch off the PSU before next try.

The CPU temperature gets 70ºC (I see it at BIOS menu) after a minutes,
Is it high? Could this be the cause of computer turns off?

Check that the heatsink is rotated the right way. The contact
patch on the bottom of the heatsink should line up with the die,
so all of the die is in contact with the heatsink.

Hope that helps,

Check that the heatsink is rotated the right way. The contact
patch on the bottom of the heatsink should line up with the die,
so all of the die is in contact with the heatsink.

I take down the heatsink, put on thermal paste on CPU, and assemble all again.
Now I get CPU temperatures about 54-58ºC that is 15ºC less than initial 70ºC
and computer doesn't turn off.

I'll try to put a better thermal paste (Artic Silver) in order to get down
the temperature.

Thanks...

70C is too hot. Your ambient temperature/air temperature must be high, too?

I have sometimes used a room fan, like a box fan that usually sits in the
window, to cool my CPU. It works great--take the cover off the PC and
direct the fan's air stream at the motherboard, especially at the CPU. This
is w-a-y better cooling than you get with a CPU fan + case fans.

BTW, my CPU (2500+) runs lower than 50C using CPU fan abd 2 case fans,
almost always. It goes a few degrees hotter on really hot days. I'm using
"Optimal" and "Aggressive" timing.

Good luck,

Skookum
