A7N8X DX-sanity check/DOA

Just purshased a new Asus A7N8X deluxe M/B, AMD XP2500 Barton (retail), and
Geil memory(2*256mg pc3500) from NewEgg. When I assembled my system the
motherboard would turn on, the fans and hard drives spin up, for about
5-10 seconds and then quit. Never was able to get to POST screen. Attempted
several times. Reset all components in thier sockets, checked all jumpers
again, still no luck . Robbed an AMD XP2100 and Corsair RAM(2*256 XMS3200)
from another working PC , same results. Replaced AGP V/C (MSI TI4400) with
an old PCI card, still no luck. I have assembled probably a dozen systems
before, but this is the first time I have been confronted with such failure.

My question is, is this a clear case of motherboard Dead on Arrival, or am
I just reaally missing something hear??? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

System as follows:
ASUS A7N8X deluxe
AMD 2500+
2*256 dual memory (Geil PC3500)
MSI TI4400 v
2*80 gig Seagate SATA hard drives
350 watt power supply
Samsung 955DF

Sounds like heatsink on the wrong way round with C.O.P. killing power.
Can't think of any other reason why power would die after a short time.

Sounds like it's overheating to me..
If you have assembled several dozen systmes then you should know how to
troubleshoot this..
I cant say I have done several dozen, Probably 20 max (but I am not even
thinking of counting) and I know that when troubleshooting you go back to
the basics..
the least amount of ram, the video card, the processor, the motherboard, and
the power supply..
I am verry tempted to say that it's COP stopping the system but I could be
wrong

Just check the 'Clear CMOS' jumper is in the right mode. I;ve seen new
ones shipped with it in the clear position :)
