When upgrading the Nvidia chipset drivers, is it necessary to
uninstall the old ones first or not?

I do not...have had no problems doing so..

I have installed over the top of the old drivers w/o problems in
win2k.

Yes.Its best to uninstall the old ones.Sooner or later u WILL have
crashes..It happens.The other two will find out from the hard way..
