I have some software that is node locked to my PC. It use to use the
hard disk serial number that gets generated when you format the drive,
but the new version uses the low-level address of my network adapters.
My question is which one do I use? My XP Pro system shows 3 addresses:
one for 3Com, 1 for nVidia and 1 for the bridge. Any suggestions?

Do you mean the MAC address?
Because the IP could change.
What software? Maybe that info would
help someone help you better.
I say just pick one.

Indeed.

Sounds like you're talking about the IP address, as the Bridge device will
not have a MAC address... As JBM noted, the MAC address would be the likely
choice. I say use the nVidia one, 'cos you can change the nVidia MAC should
this ever be required for whatever reason :-)
