A7N8X Deluxe Sound Problems

Deep Phee

I have an A7N8X Deluxe w/AMD Athlon XP 2600 running Win XP Pro. Although the
MB has integrated sound I have a Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Platinum that I've
plugged into PCI Slot 3. Looking in the Device Manager the card seems to be
using IRQ 18.

I have no sound with some games and sound is garbled while a cd is being
read.

I've disabled the integrated sound on the Motherboard via BIOS. I don't use
the Paralled port therefore it's disabled as well in BIOS. The integrated
nVidia NIC is disabled as well as I'm using the integrated 3Com NIC instead.
I've disabled these items in an attempt to free up resources.

Should I try a different PCI slot for the Audigy 2?

Any help is sure appreicated.

Thanks
Phil

Yes.

Use the onboard sound, its rather good and doesn't suffer the driver
problems you get with Audigys.

check to make sure the output is right...I had that issue with my Live
5.1...was set to "digital output"...disabled that and was fine. Since then I
went to the on-board and found it better..solved a few small issues..such as
weird sounds and staggered graphics while gaming
