a7n8x AGP not working?

S

Soulcatcher

I have a problem with all games pausing for 5-10 seconds and then
resuming. I am trying to find the problem. I think it may be AGP
related.

Here is my setup:
asus a7n8x-d
amd 2000+
winxp-pro
512 meg mem
geforce ti4200 128m 8x agp

Things I have tried:
fresh install of XP
updated all drivers, and directx, tried different versions
turned of fast write
set agp apeture to various settings.

Here's where windows says my vid card is located, is this supposed to
be AGP?

Location: PCI bus 3, device 0, function 0

Here's some Sandra info

Does the ASUS board require a separate AGP driver, in addition to the Nvidia
one?
I know that my P4S8X-X uses an SIS AGP driver and Nvidia driver.

The 'gart' driver is part of the chipset drivers. Once the chipset drivers
installed, all should be ok!

Is your gart driver present ?
Yep, It installed with the rest of the system drivers. It didn't
give an error message or anything while installing. And when I loo
under AGP HOST to PCI BRIDGE it list it as a driver there.

Still doesn't see the vid card as being in the AGP slot though.

The AGP slot is, for many intents and purposes a PCI slot... thats why you
have an AGP to PCI bridge. (the GART driver)

The fact that your computer tells you that the card is plugged into a PCI
slot is correct... provided that when you view devices by connection, it
hangs off the AGP to PCI bridge.
