A7N8X 2.0 Deluxe Performance

Mike Atkinson

Sorry if this has been covered before, just found this newsgroup.

OK, spec.
A7N8X 2.0 Delux, running Pheonix BIOS Rev 1007
AMD 2600+ Athlon XP and 512 meg of DDR RAM.

Damn thing runs like a dog, and I don't mean grayhound. Very slow boot,
graphics slow (GeForce FX 5200 from Gainward), lots of hard disc activity
and I can't figure out why. Possibly BIOS setup.

Anybody got any ideas, or a "perfect" BIOS setup I can look at?

Many thanks,
Mike

Hi,

You did not say whether you CPU is a Barton (333Mhz FSB) or a Thoroughbred
(266 FSB) but the BIOS may need to be set correctly to get the chip to run
at the full speed. set the FSB in the bios to either 133 for the
Thoroughbred or 166 for the Barton. If it is set to 100Mhz the chip will be
running slower than it should.
