A7M266: Fan sources?

I

Icer

I have a 2100+ with stock AMD HSF on it and the RPM is down to about
1500. CPU is running 152F under normal usage also. I tried cleaning it
up, reapply Artic Silver II, but fan seems weak. Also noticed the fan
on the MB chipset is about dead.

Anyone know a source of replacement fans that I can just toss on? If
not, whats the best HSF combo for this old bird?

Thanks

I use Vantec CCK-6035D H/S fans in the two A7M266 systems I built.
They aren't avail anymore that I can see but the same item with
updated retaining clip is the VANTEC CCK-6040H avail at newegg.

As for the chipset forget a new fan and do what everyone recommends
and use a Zalman heatsink. You don't need a fan on it

My Cpu temp on one machine is 40C/104f while using cpuidle to bring
temp down. Machine sits idle most of the time or is used for
newsgroups/web surfing. With cpuidle prog disabled it rises to
49 C/120 F

Naturally the other machine with same setup runs hotter playing games
generally up around 57C/134F while in games and then drops back to 40
range.

Thanks Hawkeye. I ordered the parts from NewEgg today. How did you
remove the original heatsink from the Northbridge chip? I don't want
to mung anything up..

Thanks

From what i have heard in the group here the stock H/S fan on the
Northbridge chip are retained on the back side of the board by some
method. Not sure exactly how but they have stated board will need to
be removed to release it.

Thanks a million for the kick to try CPU Idle Pro (and got Motherboard
Monitor 5.3 also). I picked up a HSF locally and tossed it on the
2100+. She sits at around 136F now. I installed CPUIdle and now it
sits here at 107F!! I put it on my PIV also but as it only runs
between 75-80F with this Peltier cooler on it it doesn't do a lot
(idles at 71F now) but WOW on the Athlon!

Thanks again!
