can I create an A5 document in word so when it is printed only half of the A4
sheet???????????

A5 *IS* half A4? If you want to print an A5 document on an A4 sheet then
setup the page to landscape mode and the margins to allow text on only half
the page.

Use the "2 pages per sheet" option under "Multiple pages" on the Margins tab
of Page Setup.
