A2003 and A2007 on the same machine

Hi Access gurus,

Any problem with A2003 and A2007 installed on the same machine? I have a
A2003 database that has not been modified to run under A2007.

The only real problem is that it takes a long time to switch from one
version to the other.

It may be that your Access 2003 will run perfectly well under 2007, without
being converted. You cannot expect to be able to modify the design of the
unconverted DB, though. If you don't need to change the design, give it a
try.

"Convert?" What's this "conversion" issue with regard to an A2003
file? A2003's MDB format is a NATIVE format for A2007, so it should
be completely, 100% updatable in A2007. Same with A2002 and A2000,
both of which are NATIVE formats for A2007.

Thanks, David. That's good to know... I haven't used Access 2007 because
none of my clients has it, or is interested in having it.

Hi Everyone,
My A2003 database would not run under A2007 and I have no time to
troubleshoot. No one has actually answered the question: can I put A2003
and A2007 on the same machine?

Your original question was "Any problem with A2003 and A2007 installed on
the same machine?"

My response of "The only real problem is that it takes a long time to switch
from one version to the other." was intended to answer your question.

In other words, yes, you can put them on the same machine. However, every
time you change which version of Access you fire up, you're going to have to
wait a long time. Office 2007 SP1 makes the wait shorter, but it's still
appreciable.
