a Vista newbie request

P

Pflueger

I bought a laptop with OEM Vista Home Premium installed. Before it gets
delivered next week I am studying everything I can get to familiarize myself
with Vista, having never even seen it in action. I am especially interested
in the compatibility of security applications such as AVG, Spyware
Terminator, etc., that I use on my current WINXP desktop (not a newbie
there).

Noting problems encountered, even with OEM, in posts here and in other
newsgroups, I would like to start off on the right foot.
Is anyone familiar with good resources, sort of like a "Vista for Dummies"
approach I can access online?

Or does anyone have any learned advice or tips that I should be aware of
with an OEM installation? Any info will be appreciated.

Thanks, Pflu

Just stick with this group. It's not Vista for Dummies but it is Vista by
Dummies... Should be close enough, don't you think?

As of now, just Google Vista and you will come up with a lot.
Microsoft's Technet is a good place for information, as are these
boards. Some might go into a little more detail, but you will learn a
lot. "For Dummies" may be a harder search, though. Some will be tailored
to the new user, others will be for the power user. You just need to
filter what is beginning and what is too advanced for you.

I have no problem with AVG 7.5 on Vista (32-bit)
